Welcome! The word therapy literally means ‘to stand beside the other’ and, together in a safe space, if you’re feeling lost, sad or challenged by life, Claire can support you, whether in finding some clarity, or raising your awareness of what you might want and need now. Crucially, Claire believes we all deserve the chance to express ourselves without feeling judged.
Her belief in the vitality of connection with others led Claire to become a Samaritan, some decades ago! Working in drama, the arts and media enabled her to experience countless walks of life, whether it was Relate’s Sex therapy, stress at work or young people who persistently ran away. This background, along with writing and university teaching led to her training: at the renowned Gestalt Centre in London and at the Psychosynthesis Trust. Claire believes that mind, body and emotions are linked and that good therapy can help in most areas of life: everyone deserves the chance to find their own light.
Today Claire is particularly interested in what’s happening for you right now in the present moment, as well as looking at the past, and any fears for the future. If you want to simply talk, or are interested in using creativity to gain new perspectives, such as journal writing or free drawing, Claire is led by her clients’ needs. She has worked in community counselling for some years now, with clients of all backgrounds & age groups, from teens upwards.
Claire works with issues from trauma, loss and grief, family, parenting and relationship concerns, work problems, anger, general stress or ‘stuckness’; addictive behaviour, anxiety, panic and depression.
Therapy can work on both a short (a minimum of six sessions) or a long-term basis, although there are no ‘quick fixes’!
Please do get in touch to discuss your needs; Claire really looks forward to hearing from you!
